Our name, "Kirakira," which means "sparkling" in Japanese, traces back to our beginnings in Kyoto, Japan. It reflects the bright, joyful SPIRIT that inspires our colorful aesthetic.
I’m Kyami, a passionate portrait photographer, kimono stylist, HMUA and tsumami zaiku artist based in New Jersey whose photography and retouching style plays on the edge of whimsy. My portrait experiences are my canvas, where I bring all of the skills I’ve cultivated over the years to create something magical and personalized for the person being photographed. Even it’s your first time being photographed or you’re feeling a little nervous, just remember: Your job is simply to be present. It’s my job to bring out your sparkle!

We offer a beautiful range of heirloom print products, like gorgeous albums in unique materials, crafted by our favorite artisans! Within two weeks you will receive your retouched photos in a private online gallery and your products in approximately three.

How long will the shoot take?
The entire day is dedicated to you! The shoot itself lasts two hours, with 2–4 hours for preparation (hair, makeup, wardrobe) depending on the concept's complexity, and up to an hour for the instant reveal session.
When does the consultation happen?
Once you've booked your session, we'll spend about 30 minutes to 1 hour getting to know each other and planning every aspect of your shoot from start to finish. My goal is for you to leave feeling confident and excited!
Where do you shoot?
We shoot on-location at stunning outdoor spots or unique studios in NYC and NJ. During your consultation, we’ll pinpoint the perfect place for your session. For outdoor shoots, we book a nearby hotel for prep and your instant reveal—keeping everything close, easy, and stress-free for a fun, seamless experience! A travel fee will apply for areas outside our major operating areas (domestic or international).
What if I don't know how to pose?
Leave it all to me! I'll walk you through posing on the day of and provide you with plenty of inspiration prior to your shoot date! Most of my shoots are with people who have never stood in front of a camera before!
What is an instant reveal?
Super good question! At the end of your session, we'll view the images together so you can select your favorites for purchase and retouching. We'll discuss your package, any products or additional images you may like.
Can more than one person participate?
When planning a shoot with multiple participants, we encourage you to reach out to discuss your vision. Please refer to the add on pricing above for participants who also wish to receive hair, makeup and styling.
Are services and credits transferable?
As hair and makeup services are a complimentary component of all photoshoot packages, you can choose to take advantage of it or not. Similarly, print credits, wardrobe credits or any other service in your package are forfeited if not used and hold no cash value.
